How Can You Stop Wanting Your Twin Flame - And Why You Shouldn't Be Ashamed of It

There was one thought I avoided admitting for a very long time.

I didn't want a relationship with my twin flame anymore.

Not because I stopped loving him.

But because I no longer wanted to build my life around someone who wasn't choosing me.

The internet is full of beautiful stories about unconditional love, divine timing, and waiting with faith.

So when I realized I didn't want a relationship with someone who wasn't choosing me in real life, I felt deeply ashamed.

For a while I thought something was wrong with me.

Maybe I wasn't a good Divine Feminine.

Maybe I wasn't spiritual enough.

I felt ashamed for choosing myself instead.

For refusing to put my life on hold.

For choosing creativity instead of waiting.

But no matter how long I questioned myself, my boundaries never disappeared.

I couldn't accept the kind of relationship he was willing to offer me.

I was ashamed.

Not because it wasn't true.

Because I thought having this feeling made me a bad Divine Feminine.

It wasn't:

"Maybe this isn't my twin flame."

It wasn't:

"Maybe the journey isn't real."

It was something much simpler.

I don't want someone who doesn't choose me.

The strange part?

I still loved him.

And that made me feel guilty.

I thought those thoughts made me less spiritual.

The Internet Told Me Love Was Enough

When you're deep in the twin flame community, you read the same messages over and over.

"He's thinking about you."

So what? Where is he?

"His soul already chose you."

Really? Then where is he?

"He's just scared."

What exactly am I supposed to be scared of?

"Divine Timing."

I don't want to wait.

"Trust the process."

I'm trying. But I don't want to sit still while my life passes by.

Every post tells you that, on a soul level, you're already together.

But then you close Instagram.

And reality is waiting for you.

Sometimes reality looks very different.

Sometimes the person you love is building a life somewhere else.

Sometimes they aren't choosing you.

Sometimes they aren't making space for you at all.

That doesn't automatically tell you what they're feeling.

But it does tell you something about the reality you're living in today.

And if he isn't choosing me in real life, what exactly is going to change tomorrow if nothing changes?

I Thought Wanting More Made Me Less Spiritual

For a long time, I believed that if I truly reached Inner Union, I would simply wait forever.

Patiently.

Beautifully.

Without questioning anything.

Then one day I had a thought that shocked me.

What if I simply don't want a relationship where I'm not being chosen?

Immediately, shame appeared.

Was I giving up?

Was I failing the journey?

Was my ego talking?

Or...

Was I finally respecting myself?

Could it really be that the self-worth which had protected me my entire life was suddenly something I was supposed to abandon?

Love And Choice Are Not The Same Thing

This was the hardest lesson for me.

You can love someone deeply.

And still realize that you don't want to build your life around someone who isn't building theirs with you.

Those two things can exist together.

Love doesn't disappear overnight.

But self-respect quietly grows.

And one day it asks a very uncomfortable question.

Why am I ashamed of wanting to be chosen?

Maybe We Romanticized Waiting Too Much

Somewhere along the way, waiting became proof of spiritual growth.

The longer you wait...

The more evolved you must be.

The more patient...

The more surrendered...

The more worthy.

But what if waiting isn't always wisdom?

What if, sometimes, it's simply fear of letting your own life begin?

I Didn't Stop Loving

I think I love the whole world.

I love every moment of my life, and I love my twin flame too.

But that doesn't mean I have to want a relationship where I'm not being chosen.

I don't want to abandon myself.

That is the biggest difference.

I didn't wake up one morning and suddenly stop caring.

I stopped believing that my happiness had to remain on hold until someone else made a decision.

Life was still happening.

Books were waiting to be written.

Birds were still gathering at the lake.

My cats still wanted attention.

Chocolate still tasted amazing.

Sunsets were still beautiful.

My friends still made me laugh.

The world hadn't stopped.

Only I had.

Waiting.

Maybe That's What Inner Union Really Is

People often describe Inner Union as finally feeling your twin flame's unconditional love.

Maybe.

But that wasn't my experience.

For me, Inner Union began the moment I admitted something I had been ashamed of for a very long time:

I don't want to spend my life waiting for someone who isn't choosing me.

Not because I don't love them.

But because I finally love myself enough to want reciprocity.

Maybe we should stop feeling ashamed.

Maybe there's nothing unspiritual about wanting mutual love.

Maybe there's nothing wrong with wanting to be chosen.

Maybe that's not ego.

Maybe that's dignity.

Because Inner Union didn't teach me to stop loving.

It taught me to stop apologizing for wanting a relationship where love is lived—not only imagined.

Somewhere along the way, many of us started treating reciprocity, respect, honesty, and being chosen as if they were spiritual luxuries.

They aren't.

They're the foundation of any healthy relationship.

Those aren't unrealistic expectations.

They're the basics.
